Parents are always worried about
keeping their children occupied. Many
go to some type of camp while others
visit relatives and go on vacations.
However there are always periods of
time when there is absolutely nothing
to do.
Our kids never went to a camp nor did
they visit relatives for an extended
time. I have been extremely fortunate
to have been off during the summers
and suffer the insufferable 'What are
we going to do now?"
One year I turned our backyard into a
3 par golf course. You can read about
that in my Firecrackinmama's World:
What's a Mother to Do? We had loads
of fun and so did the neighbors' kids
and husbands.
Most summers I put one day aside and
called it "Kid's Day". All the
neighborhood kids would come over
and I had some big planned activity for
them to enjoy. They must have liked
my ideas as they came every week
without fail. Or maybe they came
because their parents threatened them
if they didn't.

Tetrahedral Kite
Start with six (6) straws and a piece of fishing line approximately a yard (36") long. It's better to have too much line than not enough.
You'll be stringing the straws together noticing that you will be working with equalateral triangles.

Nowadays it is very, very different from
when I was suffering through those
long, hot, nothing to do summer days.
Kids have computers, video game
machines, TV, DVDs, and so much
more to keep them entertained.
So for you parents who want your kids
to be more active and learn at the
same time, I am presenting to you my
Kite Task Performance Project. It's
inexpensive, creative and fun.
In preparation you'll need a roll of
fishing line - not the real strong but
then not the lightest. A box of straws,
stirring straws are the best but if you
purchase the regular straws be sure
they don't bend and a pack of colorful
tissue paper.

Springer Spaniel. She is such a character and a big ham when it comes to
having her picture taken. I've written about her several times in my Blog,
Firecrackinmama's World: I've Been Trained Well. I've also wanted to create
some educational products but for some strange reason lately my academic
creativity is having a major Senior Moment that has lasted for over a month.
Saturday however may have been a break through. Recently through a Forum I
read about ACEO's and ATC's. Yeah, like what are they? Well, evidently there's
a big market out there for "Art Cards Editions and Originals" (ACEO) and Art
Trading Cards (ATC). In short it's like all those trading cards we use to collect
and trade. So what the heck? I decided to try it out. I designed my
Firecrackinmama.com cards on these chubby cards and loved the way they
came out.
Thus the creation of the "Scuba Dog" Collection. As I mentioned she is a
character and a very loveable character. Therefore her collection is based on
character development. These cards can easily be used as reinforcers for
educators promoting positive character traits within their students. It's an open
edition as I'm coming up with new ideas every day.
Below is a sample of one of my favorites. Visit my Blog: Scuba Dog Collection to
read more about this amazing dog and see some of the other cards in the
collection.

Now educators can motivate their students, teacher, or employees
on a daily basis. These Certificate of Achievement Cards come on a
heavy 3.5" x 2.5" chubby card.
I've purchased them, personalizing them with my name. I suggest
using a permanent fine point marker to complete the cards.
